

Studio SP has just completed a promotional window display for the stage show We Will Rock You, showing at the Playhouse Theatre, on the Omni Centre frontage.

Studio SP has completed the exhibition ‘Singing the Reformation’ at the University of Edinburgh Main Library. Bringing together the eight Wode Partbooks, from around the world, for the very first time.

We are delighted to have completed the new summer exhibition, Elizabeth Blackadder, for the National Gallery of Scotland. We designed this exhibition to reflect Blackadder’s style of work, in terms of colour scheme and materials. Canvas was used throughout the exhibition, carrying thematic graphics, as well as being wrapped around display case plinths, creating texture and adding colour inspired by Blackadder’s palette.

Studio SP is delighted to have contributed towards the successful redevelopment and relaunch of the iconic Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, which is now receiving record numbers of visitors. We have designed three galleries, Looking East, European Styles and Shaping our World, which feature some of the most remarkable and beautiful exhibits in the museum's collections.

We are delighted to have completed new displays for the Dunbrody Famine Ship, in New Ross, Ireland. The displays, produced in association with content developers CMC Associates and multimedia technology specialists Zolk C, combine period scenic displays with audio-visual film projections and interactivity to give visitors a unique insight into a period of history which has shaped modern day Ireland and America.

New interactive exhibition displays have been launched at Russborough, said to be Ireland's most beautiful house. Following extensive research and content development visitors can know explore, through entertaining and informative displays, the fascinating lives and passions of Sir Alfred and Lady Beit. Innovative new 3D techniques have been employed to immerse the visitor in the story.

We have recently completed a promotional window display for the stage show Hairspray, showing at the Playhouse Theatre, on the Omni Centre glass frontage.

Studio SP and co-consultants are delighted to have been appointed to this prestigious project following a tender procedure in June. Initially working towards an HLF Round 2 application in November 2010 the team will then be working towards the scheduled completion of the museum by May 2012. The Highlanders' Museum is one of the largest regimental museums in the UK and is situated in the stunning environment of Fort George just east of Inverness.

We are delighted to launch our new website this month. Simpler in feel and structure yet containing more information than we have been previously able to accommodate, we hope that all of our clients will like the change. The new site follows our management restructuring last Autumn and is also able to better showcase some of our recently completed work overseas.

Our masterplan for Nanjing Museum was completed on deadline in April, and presented to senior staff in Nanjing. The proposals have been extremely well received and will be used as the foundation for the forthcoming stages of detailed design development towards the museum’s completion in 2012.

We are delighted to have been appointed this year to work on two major projects in Ireland. These projects, Russborough House near Dublin and the Dunbrody Famine Ship visitor centre at New Ross, represent two of the six projects for which funding has been allocated by Failte Ireland through Tourism Development Grants in the past two years.

Studio SP are delighted to have been appointed to produce a masterplan for a 17,000 sqm new exhibition gallery building, part of the major development of Nanjing Museum. Working closely alongside the client, project architects, and project managers, Studio SP will complete the masterplan in April 2010 in order that the fast-track project can progress on schedule to meet the public opening date in late 2011.

Curtain Up is the 2009 winter exhibition at the National Library of Scotland. The exhibition tells the story of the plays, playwrights and major theatrical events in Scotland over the last 40 years through film, audio, interactivity and props. One of the highlights of the exhibition is the giant pop up book created by John Byrne for the 7:84 production 'The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil'.

In December 'Masterpieces One' opened in the newly refurbished Edinburgh University Library. This is the first of a series of Masterpieces exhibitions which will highlight the richness and diversity of the Universities collection. For the inaugural exhibition Studio SP designed a striking, elegant display for 16 of the collections finest books, one of which was the oldest book in Scotland, the Celtic Saltire. The exhibition is housed in 2 large showcases in a Basil Spence designed exhibition space.

Studio SP has been appointed following a competitive pitch to work on two galleries within the Royal Museum on Chambers Street, Edinburgh. To be carried out as part of the major Royal Museum Project, the two galleries will be opened to the public in 2011.

We have recently completed a concept design for a new interactive gallery at Sangxingdui Museum, Sichuan Province, China. The 500 square metre gallery allows visitors to explore the unique bronze age collections through a series of innovative high and low technology interactives.
